Yes, I have been slacking when it comes to keeping up with Fitness Friday posts, but I promise I have been killing it at Flywheel. Instructors like Jen P and one of her mentorees Sherica Holman make it so much fun to get to their classes 3-5 times a week. Sherica looks sweet and innocent, but I quickly learned that she pushes you to the limit in her Flywheel rides. Since she has me working so hard on the bike, I decided to turn the tables on her and requested she write a guest Fitness post:
So with no further introduction, here’s Sherica to take it away:
It’s so great to meet you! My name is Sherica. I am a Personal trainer, FlyWheel instructor and Health coach. I myself am not a mother yet, but momma’s all around the world inspire me everyday! As busy women it’s important to take time for ourselves and to ultimately remember to nourish OURSELVES as well.
There are three key elements of my being that I must nourish to keep stress at bay and happiness abundant.Those three things are: MIND, BODY & SOUL
To make your day just a little more fabulous, here are three practices you can try out today. Nourish YOU. The motto today!
Mind: Staying in the present moment by taking time in between our thoughts. The mind is a crazy machine that can lead to the dreaded word “overthinking”. I can be the queen of this, it sucks and is completely unnecessary. We are all capable of being in the now. One way is to identify when you are trapped in your mind. When your mind becomes so loud you forget where you are or what you are doing. The first step to breaking this is identifying your thoughts, and noticing you are being ruled by your loud mind. Identifying your constant thoughts are a start to owning power over YOUR mind. Once you have achieved this, you can practice putting a little more space in between your thoughts where you think about absolutely NOTHING. Crazy thought right? Try it out and see your abundance of life grow.
Body: Nourish your body today. If you didn’t make it to your workout at Fat Burn 45 or FlyWheel, complete this yummy full body circuit to get the blood flowing and endorphins pumping.
ROUND 1- Perform each exercise for 60 seconds.
Squats, Push-up release, Mountain climbers, Bicycle crunches
ROUND 2-Perform each exercise for 30 seconds.
Lunges, Triceps dips, Burpees, Plank
(Complete each round 2 times)
SOUL: Ahhhh yes now we get to the soul. The depth within us, our true desires lie right here. Wanna know why I put this big smiling picture of me rocking red as the intro photo? I had a SOUL moment that day. I was feeling super tired and sluggish on a bright sunny day. All I wanted to do was sleep but my mind wouldn’t let me, it craved to be outdoors. You know what I did? I “womaned” up, put a face on, put on some bright red lipstick and instantly felt like a new woman!!
What I’m getting at is, do what makes YOU happy in every single moment. Don’t resist what your soul desires. What will you do to feed your SOUL today?
