A few years ago, we attended an August wedding in Maine and planned our summer vacation around it. It was my first time to Maine but definitely would not be my last. From that summer on, we’ve been traveling up north to New England in August.
With two young children, this hotel property was less formal and much more suited for our needs as a family. There was even a Weekapaug Inn onesie and baby toiletries, along with a rubber ducky, in the crib we requested for Greenlee so clearly we are not the only family who stays there with a baby.
After our 2.5 hour drive up, we enjoyed a seafood lunch on the stone patio and took in the splendid water view until our room was ready.
Ian couldn’t wait to go on a pedal boat with Daddy.
I highly recommend the squid ink spaghettini with littleneck clams at The Restaurant, along with the Ponzi pinot gris from Willamette Valley, Oregon. We ended the night at the bonfire.
We couldn’t have picked a better beach for Greenlee’s first time. Despite Ian refusing to touch the sand, we had a wonderful time at the beach.
I arranged for a photo shoot with Roy of Black Dog Imaging on the beach at The Ocean House with us all dressed in our summer whites.
Afterwards, Ian rode the merry-go-round followed by ice cream before dinner. Hey, we were on vacation after all!
And to Taylor Swift, if you ever want to have me over as a house guest at your Watch Hill mansion, I’m free anytime. I drooled over your property from my hotel window last year.
