As I posted on Facebook this morning, only for Nicole Kidman would I schlep Greenlee and myself across town for an advance screening of Paddington.
During the Q&A, Nicole commented on the books she reads her children. “Paddington, Paddington, Paddington,” she joked. We learned from her that hubby Keith Urban is disgusted with the entitled, princess books and won’t read them to his daughters.
When asked if she keeps in touch with Suri, she responded, “Who? Oh I’ve never even met het.”
Nicole looks flawless in person, absolute perfection, especially for a 47 year mother of two young children. That’s a movie star for you. I do want to do some research and seen if she’s admitted to ever getting any Botox or undergoing any treatments. My one slight objection is like her ex-husband (Mr. Tom Cruise) she did NOT speak at all about her two adopted older kids, except when she was specifically asked about them.
Now on to the movie!
We all know the story of Paddington Bear (Um, actually in full disclosure, I have never read the book)
The film offers it all! An adorable bear, a charming British family, pop music from our generation. It gives a real glimpse of what it would really be like to house a bear. Speaking of house, the interior of The Browns is fantastic! Each room is so perfectly tailored to each individual and the kitchen is so warm and homey. I want to move into this London flat (or home because it has a huge spiral staircase)
The characters are all really developed and there is such a fine attention detail.
There’s some humor and funny scenes, including Paddington in the bathroom,
a scene that’s somewhat déjà vu to the beloved Robin Williams in Doubtfire and many others.
I especially enjoyed watching it with Greenlee on my lap. I’m pretty sure this is the first movie she’s gone to see in the theaters and she was wide eyed from the very beginning. The timing wasn’t ideal for her as it concurred with her once a day lunchtime nap so she did get cranky and we had to exit before it ended.
It was such a memorable experience for both of us that upon leaving the screening, I went directly to FAO Schwartz to purchase Paddington for us. Its something I had wanted for Greenlee Britain since before she was born. I was shocked to be told that FAO does not carry this bear. I would have stopped in Bloomies and/or Saks if the weather was better and if I thought I’d leave the store with a bear. Thanks to Amazon, a Paddington bear and book are already on its way to our apartment. (I am disappointed I can’t include a photo of Greens clutching her new bear in this post)
Paddington opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, January 16, 2015. Go see it as a family.
Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post, but did attend a complimentary screening from The Moms/Mamarazzi. As always, all opinions expressed are 100% my own.
