We’re always looking for quick getaways that don’t require a flight. Since Langham Place New York offers a Family Getaway package, I felt confident that their properties would be kid-friendly and a great place for us to stay as a family. We initially booked a trip to Boston over the February break, but the blizzards forced us to reschedule for during spring break.
My son is obsessed with buses so to make the close to four hour commute from New York City to Boston as fun and exciting for him, we traveled by Bolt Bus.
After checking in, the kids were anxious to go swimming.
On our first night, we ordered in The New England Shore Dinner from The Private Kitchen (aka room service):
New England Style Clam Chowder
Maine lobster salad with homemade potato chips
Apple crumb pie
The kids pasta came with real parmesan cheese to sprinkle on, along with butter sauce.
We enjoyed our dinner so much that we happily reordered it on Saturday night when Ian fell asleep after a full day out and about sightseeing.
The Langham is conveniently located within walking distance from Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall. All I’ve wanted to do is taste a Wicked Good Cupcake since seeing the company strike a deal on Shark Tank. So yes, Mr. Wonderful, we’ve made you 45 cents richer.
We were mesmerized by The Greenway Carousel which features 14 different characters native to the land, sea and sky of Massachusetts including a sea turtle, a cod, a peregrine falcon, a grasshopper, a harbor seal, a fox, a skunk, a whale, three types of butterflies, a barn owl, and a sea serpent. The characters were inspired by the drawings of Boston school children and fabricated by Newburyport, Massachusetts artist Jeff Briggs.
We really got to learn extensively about Boston, and check out the entire city, as well as Cambridge, while riding the Super Duck Tours trolleys. Here’s us on the super duck harbor splash.
On Friday night, we had a delicious dinner at Mistral. We were driven back to the hotel in the house card when the valet was unable to hail us a cab.
In the end, The Langham Hotel was the perfect base of operation for us to explore the city and have a great time.
Disclosure: We received the media rate for our room at The Langham Hotel, but as always, all opinions expressed are 100% my own.
