It’s a dreary, wet, rainy day in NYC on Cinco de Mayo. The perfect weather to stay in bed under the covers. I attempted to make it out for a flywheel class, but when I saw the rain pounding onto the street, I turned around and spent most of the day reading.
I have been receiving plenty of Mother’s Day pitches. I just received one that made me excited, especially since rainy days equate with movies. Ian is really into watching movies. Each time he goes to Target, he picks up a few videos. He’s been watching SING, Smurfs and BFG non-stop.
We’ve made plans to visit my mom and mother-in-law during the week leading up to Mother’s Day so my husband Scott has proclaimed Mother’s Day MY day this year! I’m thinking it might be fun to take Ian to see E.T. After all, I have wanted to check out this theater which received such wonderful press. How insane is it that we watched that movie 35 years ago????? Talk about making me feel old.
Start off the day with E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL, Steven Spielberg’s childlike view of an alien encounter that has touched the heart of generations of young moviegoers. We all know the story: Elliot, a lonely kid living in suburban California comes across a shy alien in his backyard. At first both are scared, but soon Elliot realizes the creature’s gentle nature and befriends him. Quickly the two develop a strong bond of friendship and Elliot decides to hide the alien, who he calls E.T., from his mother.
One of the most ingenious, imaginative, heartfelt, unpretentious science-fiction films ever made, E.T. makes the bold choice telling a direct story in a simple way.
A special Mother’s Day menu with food and drink specials will be available for E.T.
