I have now sailed Norweigan Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Disney and all future family cruises will be aboard Disney cruises. It totally makes sense why it was awarded #1 family cruise line by Conde Nast Traveler.
When we ported in Nassau, we took a cab to The Atlantis (only $4 per passenger) and enjoyed checking out the property, as well as touring the incredible aquarium, having lunch and frozen drinks by one of the many pools.
We LOVED Castaway Cay, Disney’s private Island. Our only request would have been to stay there an additional day. We swam in the turquoise ocean, my boys floated in a tube and worked up an appetite for the barbecue lunch and soft-served ice cream.
Then Ian had a blast as “Spring a Leak.”
Grandma then kept an eye on him as he napped on a lounge chair.
Scott and I checked out the few pavilions and then fell asleep in hammocks. Ahhhh!
The cabins are laid out very functionally with a separate stall for the toilet and sink and then another door with the shower and a second sink making it very easy for multiple people to get ready simultaneously. For those with multiple children, they will turn the pull out sofa into bunk beds.
The Broadway shows were spectacular. My three year old son clapped and cheered. My 10 year nephew did find the first night’s show to be too girly but he did enjoy the Villains performance the second night.
We didnt take advantage of The Oceaneer’s Club (daycare for 3-12 year olds) but the facility looked like tons of fun! I would have liked to stay and play with the life-size Mr. Potato Head.
Scott had a blast riding the Aquaduck, the first water coaster on a Disney Cruise Line ship—or, for that matter, any cruise ship—setting the standard for height, length and excitement. He only had a 20 minute wait. I got stunk by a bee while he was doing the Aquaduck.
Disney isn’t known for its food and unfortunately that held true on the cruise. The main buffet closed by 2pm every day. Animator’s Palate was our favorite restaurant but we only got to eat dinner there once.
Have you been on a Disney cruise? If so, tell us about your experience!
