It doesn’t feel like it was that long ago before I took Ian to a sneak preview of Planes (and that’s because it came out on last year as I learned while researching Forbes to write this post)
I have a love/hate relationship with sequels. Most stink with a few that shockingly surprise and are even better than the original. My husband Scott informed me that Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was more successful than the Original Star Trek Film.
The other night, I debated whether or not Ian and I should go to this movie screening during a downpour. The first Planes did not keep our interest but I was trying to keep an open mind for this one.
The animation is so incredible and makes the movie feel so realistic. Ian kept sliding up his 3D glasses to compare the screen with and without the 3D effects which I thought was so cute. I didn’t realize until I was writing this that Dane Cook plays the voice of Dusty.
“We are celebrating the brave men and women that fight fires day in and day out, with a really heartwarming story to it,” Cook said.
While a lot of the movie takes place up in the sky, its not over the top with goofy comical relief that aggravates in so many children’s and adult films.
Planes: Fire & Rescue flies into theaters this Friday, July 18, 2014 in 3D and is 83 minutes long. Ian made it through more than 40 minutes which is a big feat for him.
Disclaimer: I received a camped pair of tickets to the movie screener, but as always all opinions expressed are 100% my own.
