A fellow East Mom with two kids, Gillian Sarner and I were destined to be friends as we both have a daughter whose name starts with the letter “G” and she has a dog named Ollie. (My furry shih-Tzu nephew is Oliver or Ollie for short.) Even though we spin at different studios, we have similar tastes in fashions, have executed several similar DYI projects and admire each other’s family photos.
While I have never even tried Rodan + Fields products, I have several friends who are consultants and tirelessly attempt for me to try these products. The brand receives tremendous positive press and I figured it was time to feature a mom consultant on my blog who could serve as a point person for any of my readers curious in learning more. I am not getting any younger and am anti Botox for myself so who knows, it soon might be time to explore R+D’s firming products.
Gillian is a busy wife, mom and entrepreneur who was born and raised on the UES and continues to live there now with her husband, daughters Grace (8), and Charlie (5) and neurotic, but adorable, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Ollie (10). Gillian has owned her own interior design company since 2006 Gillian Abrams Designs, LLC and is currently an Independent Consultant at Rodan + Fields .
About 2 ½ years ago, as I was in my late 30’s, I woke up one day and looked in the mirror and did not like what I saw. I was fortunate as a teen to not suffer from acne or other skin issues but that also meant I was lax in my skincare routine. I used Cetaphil face wash and Olay cream from the drugstore. Occasionally I would apply an eye cream if I remembered. My lack of consistency was starting to show on my face. My skin was dull from sun-damage (baby oil is not your friend), fine lines around my eyes were starting to appear, and my forehead was looking a little too Sharpeii-ish. I had tried Botox before but it ended up making one of my eyes appear droopy – not a cute look! Around this same time, I had seen a few friends posting on Facebook about a new skincare company and the before and after photos were incredible. These girls also looked like they were having such a great time “working” while earning perks like cars and trips all while being able to stay at home with their families. I was having serious FOMO (fear of missing out).
I have two daughters who at the time were three and six and they were getting ready to attend summer camp out of New York City which meant I was free from 8am-5pm. This was going to be the first time in 6 years that I would have more than a 3-hour chunk of time to myself each day for 8 WEEKS! Part of me was thrilled with the idea of a relaxing summer, and part of me was panicked about how I was going to fill up my days for those 8 weeks. There are only so many hours you can spend at the gym or going to lunch! If I’m really being honest, I was also concerned about what my husband was going to think. I am a residential interior designer by trade. I own and operate my own design firm from home but it’s also very cyclical. I could be working on 3-4 projects all at one time or there could be a lull in business for several months. Summer 2014 was one of those lulls. What if he was going to ask me to go back to work for someone else??? That thought terrified me. So when I heard about this opportunity to work from home, in part time hours, get paid for sharing the products and fix my aging skin at the same time it was a no-brainer.
Anyone knows living in NYC is expensive! Since joining Rodan + Fields in 2014 I have not only gotten t hebest skin of my life but I have been able to contribute to my family’s income. I have helped pay the outrageous preschool tuition, after-school gymnastics, ballet, hip hop, and Taekwondo classes. I was able to take my girls to Disneyland to celebrate their fourth and seventh birthdays! I can workout at Soul Cycle a few times and week and not feel major guilt about how much money I am spending to stay healthy. I found new friendships and rekindled old ones. And I continue to learn and grow every day. I am teaching my two girls about having a work/home balance which is something that most of us struggle with daily.
We are all aging all of the time. The beauty industry is a multibillion-dollar market and everyone wants a piece. There are so many options out there but how do you know what to use and if it will really work? Well, Rodan + Fields was developed by two famous (women) dermatologists. Ever hear of Proactive? Yeah, they created that too. These Doctors know serious skincare and in a very short time have been able to create the #2 premium skincare line in the US. Since they are still practicing dermatologists they were able to learn from their patients what the 4 most common skincare concerns were and created multi med therapy to treat each one of these.
- Aging; fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness
- Sun damage; dullness, dark spots
- Adult acne; cystic acne, blackheads, clogged pores
- Sensitive skin; dry, red, itchy
They even developed a solution tool to help customers figure out what products would be best for them. It’s like having your own skincare consult with the Drs. Try it here.
The Doctors are so confident you will love your results, they offer a 60-day money back guarantee on all their products and the business opportunity. There is nothing better than getting messages from my customers about how happy they are with their results. This is life-changing skincare.
If you’re ready for a change, either with your skincare routine or your current situation, I would be happy to chat and give you additional information and/or product discounts.
