Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted a daughter. My lifelong dream finally came true one year ago today.
I feel terrible that during my pregnancy, my ob/gyn and I called her a “total diva” and a “troublemaker” because fortunately nothing could be farther from the truth.
From the start, Greenlee has known many of the important rules of being a lady:
The Importance of Beauty Sleep
My princess has slept consistently 11 hours through the night since she was only 2 weeks old. (And before that, we actually had to set an alarm clock to wake her for night time feedings)
You Never Have a Second Chance to Make a First Impression
I rarely use baby-sitters so Greenlee is my sidekick who comes everywhere with me. She usually is on her best behavior and goes with the flow. People marvel at how good she is.
You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile
Greenlee almost always wakes up with a grin. Even when she was sick last week, she was flashing her 5 pearly whites.
(Being stuck in bed with her reminded me of all the times I stayed home from school with my mom when I was sick. The only thing missing was All My Children to watch.)
It’s Good To Be A Daddy’s Girl
I was known as my dad’s shadow because I followed him everywhere. It warms my heart to see the extra special relationship developing between my husband and our daughter. Greenlee certainly has her daddy wrapped around her little finger.
Dog is Man’s Best Friend (& Sharing is Caring)
Having grown up with my shih-tzu Oreo, the only thing I feel that’s missing from our family is a dog. I have a feeling this little girl will help me convince her dad to one day let us get a puppy.
It’s Always More Fun When You Do it with Good Friends
Happy first birthday, Greenlee! Continue to light up every room you enter with your infectious big smile and your sparkling baby blues. We love you so much!
