Yesterday a former PR client of mine who has turned into one of my “mom friends” posted on Facebook that she received her first Rockets of Awesome box for her daughter. I asked if she would do a guest blog post on her reaction to the service. Adele D’Man is a SAG Actress, Award winning Short Filmmaker, Writer and Stage Mom to two incredible kids. She lives in N.Y.C. with her Husband and children, Chase 12 and Lexia 9 1/2.
I was especially interested in hearing a fashionable mom’s thoughts on Rockets of Awesome as prior to launching this company, founder Rachel Blumenthal was the CEO of Cricket’s Circle, the trusted resource and editorial engine for everything baby and toddler. It was the insights and learnings from the Cricket’s Circle community that inspired the idea for Rockets of Awesome.
We screamed when we received Rockets of Awesome in this giant box with a handle. When we opened it up there was a plethora of jewel colored clothing for my 9 1/2 year old daughter Lexia.
We chose a size 10 which is actually a 10/12. I’m glad we didn’t size up because all of the clothes were a little big. Lexia has a ballerina build and immediately I had wished we had stated that we preferred clothes that fit close to her frame as opposed to baggy style.
Immediately we decided against the big Salmon Orange tutu and the boxy striped hot pink drop waist dress.
We tried on this gray soft shirt with off white tiered trim. We loved the idea but it fit neither like a shirt ( too long) or a dress .. so we put it in the return pile.
There was an ultra soft long sleeve white shirt that said “We are Awesome” that also went into the return pile because we don’t wear wording and also the cut was rather large.
There was a disco ball necklace that Lexia said was cute but that she would never wear.
We received two different shades of purple light weight long sleeve shirts. We decided to return the one that was styled more masculine with a high neck.
Baby pink and salmon leopard leggings and baby pink with a touch of salmon cardigan
White dress with eyelet and drawstring
Overall, the clothes were made well with soft feeling materials and great colors. We’re excited for our next box!”
Lexia looks beautiful modeling the clothes and I greatly appreciate Adele sharing her unbiased experience with my blog.
Have you tried Rockets of Awesome or any of its competitors? Why or why not?
