The shoe department of Saks Fifth Avenue’s flagship store in midtown Midtown is so large, it has its own zip code — 10022. And starting Monday, May 15, 2017, whether or not you’re a heel lover or more of a sneaker gal, there will be something new to worship on the second floor. Occupying almost the entire second floor, the new Saks Wellery space features more than 18 different trendy fitness, health and beauty brands.
When you arrive on the second floor, visit The Wellery Concierge to book services or a class in the studio, which will feature Bari Studio, Box + Flow, MNDFL Meditation, and more. Then, make your way around the circular space to visit various brands, each of which has its own shop within a shop (within a shop so you can shop till you drop!).
At Breathe Salt Rooms, for example, you can experience a 25-minute dry salt treatment. At Sundays, you can get a guided meditation with your natural manicure. If your personal wellness preferences lean more sporty than holistic, there’s Martone Cycling and Peloton for bike enthusiasts and Drive 495 for golfers.
“Within each mini shop, you’ll get a taste of what it’s like to visit the brand’s full-sized store—from the design to the music to the customer service. “When you go through the space, it really does feel like each brand has its own identity,” explains Roopal Patel, SVP, Fashion Director at Saks Fifth Avenue.. So in case you’re still not convinced to check out The Wellery, think of it this way: It’s like wellness speed dating to help you identify which brands and services are most you.”
Because it is a department store, you can shop for athletic wear, including Alo Yogo, Bodyism, Greyson Clothier and Ron Dorr.
The one drawback is that there are no showers post-workout. There are wipes in the dressing room. Thank g-d for dry shampoo. And you can always buy some make-up on the main floor. Hit Laura Mercier for some tinted moisturizer. (If there were showers, I would probably want to live here! Did you ever dream of spending the night in a mall similar to Mannequin)
But as we know, all good things must come to an end. Fortunately, the space will be around past bikini season, but will switch to Beauty after October 31. Mon.-Sat., 10 A.M.-8:30 P.M.; Sun., 11 A.M.-7 P.M.
