I had low expectations and did not expect to like Woodloch. People described it as “sleepaway for families.” I don’t do camping. I never went to sleepaway camp despite my dad’s insistence and I hated Pine Grove for the four summers my parents sent me to day camp thinking I was having fun.
I must stress that I am more than pleasantly surprised how our family trip to Woodloch turned out. When you wake up to this magnificent lake view, how can you not want to run outside and embrace all there is to do on the grounds?
Ian and Greenlee could not have enjoyed the facilities and activities anymore, particularly the pool.
Greenlee experienced several firsts on this trip. It was her first time in a pool, as well as paddle boating and riding a pony. She enjoyed the first immensely, intensely disliked having to wear a life jacket and will hopefully warm up to horseback riding.
As a very unathletic family, I did not expect our family to take part in many of the activities and events. Boy was I wrong. Take a look.
When Greenlee got her face painted during the carnival, the artist said she was her best customer ever and wished all the kids were half as good as Greenlee!
Hands down, she was also the best dressed in the dining room wearing her Jason Wu for Neiman Marcus & Target frock that I grabbed up on Thred Up. #whatwillGreenleewear
Ian couldn’t have enjoyed the kiddie pool with the FROG slide anymore. He also had tons of fun in the kids Forest gym and riding the shuttle bus. He pet a dove during the magic show and had a blast at the carnival.
It was even good bonding for Big Brother Ian who finally let me get some pictures of him with his little sister!
“They all come back.”. As soon as we get the school schedule for 2014-2015, we will definitely be booking our trip for next June between school and camp again. Maybe I’ll even sneak in a spa treatment next time.
