My sister grew up and went to college with Justin, a great guy who’s wife Shira was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma almost two years ago. Shira is a loving and caring wife who lives in Central New Jersey. She also has three adorable children that NEED THEIR MOM!!!
At this point in time, Shira requires a stem cell transplant. She does not match anyone on the public registry, and she is running out of time.
New Yorkers, PLEASE REGISTER AS A TRANSPLANT DONOR on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the 14th Street Y (344 E. 14th Street) from 8:30am-7pm. You might save’s Shira’s life, or you might be somebody else’s hero! It’s a painless cheek swab, that’s it.
You can learn more about Shira by watching this video here. Educate yourself about bone marrow donation by visiting the DKMA website here. Also, please read the FAQ’s here before making your donation.
Live elsewhere or can’t make it to this particular event? A kit can be mailed to you at http://www.getswabbed.org/. (My sister has already gotten hers)
Potential donors must be 18-55 years of age.
You can stay up to date by liking the Smiles for Shira Facebook page. We’d all like for a donor to be found.
