I was recently asked to participate in a virtual blog tour that would highlight my blog and why I write it while also getting to feature 3 of my other favorite blogs. Today I’m happy to share more about Me, Myself & Baby I, as well as showcase 3 other fabulous blogs.
1. What am I working on?
My favorite posts lately are the what will Greenlee wear column. I’m hoping to do a post on the maternity style of the real life actress who played Greenlee on All My Children who my daughter is named after. Fashion is always been a passion of mine and I considered a career in it so its fun and exciting to be able to go in that direction. I have always wanted a little girl to dress up and Greenlee is my real life model to dress up! Rebecca Budig, the actress who played Greenlee on AMC, is actually pregnant in real life and I’m hoping to connect with her to do a maternity style piece for #whatwillGreenleewear. How fun and appropriate is that?!
I am always really trying to increase my readership and blog traffic so please spread the word to fellow moms and females who enjoy life’s must-haves (according to ME). I am excited to be attending Blogger Bash on July 18th.
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I try to take a unique angle and also not cover what every other mom blog is featuring. I also try to carefully balance my personal family with overall lifestyle topics and products that I am passionate about.
Why do I Create/Write What I Do?
I have always enjoyed writing. I started keeping a dairy/journal when I was in elementary school. I am also a natural born publicist (hence why I majored in public relations and have worked in the field since college). I enjoy sharing information with others and being “in the know.”. I started my blog when I was pregnant with Baby I purely as a vehicle to keep family and friends updated on my pregnancy. Once I became a stay-at-home mom, I threw myself into my blog so my mind wouldn’t turn into mush.
How does my writing/creating process work?
My mind is always spinning and churning out stories. Sometimes I have to get out of bed to tap my latest thoughts on to my keyboard. Often times I scribble a sentence, title or what have you on a napkin or lose piece of paper. It’s not uncommon for me to email myself sentences or paragraphs while I am out and about doing other stuff.
I follow several other mom bloggers. However, I really tried to select bloggers I admire and respect and also who are not all mom bloggers so there’s diversity. The timing for who’s up next was rather tough due to it being right after the long July 4th weekend so I did have a few bloggers turn me down. But I am extremely excited to introduce you to these 3 other fabulous blogs!
Professional writer Alice Gomstyn describes herself as a “amateur mommy and failed gangsta rapper.” Mom to two boys, Alice enjoys strolling, sleeping and crafting rhyming poetry and song parody lyrics at a moment’s notice–a talent she’ll share with anyone in return for gratuitous flattery. She writes for Babble and BabyZone. I’ve even been quoted in some of her posts, including Kids vs. Careers and High Chair Injuries. You can follow her on twitter at @alicegomstyn
Mom A La Mode
Where foodie intersects with fashionista, is blended with a heaping heartful of wife/mommy, and served with a cherry on top. Lisa’s goal is quite simple — to entertain, inspire, connect and share with other mommies and folks out there through a delightful mix of content. She serves up tasty bytes including sweet anecdotes from her life as a mom of a toddler boy and saucy recipes from her kiitchen, complemented by style & pop culture commentary, some special guest contributors and more.
Like myself, Amy Selling is “always looking for the hottest new thing. Whether it’s the greatest new gift, the best new website, sickest new shoes or some amazing find that isn’t even launched yet, I am on it!”. Amy did her time in the corporate world working at many fashion houses, spending most of my fashion career running the Burberry Showroom. After becoming a mom, she started an incredible kids line called “Shoots and Ladders.” It really was a special business that was featured in Daily Candy, In Style Magazine and received a lot of other press. Then she joined forces with her old babysitter Shannon to create Bubble & Shake Cupcakes. They were so beautiful and delicious they got us on CUPCAKE WARS! Amy explains, “I started this blog as a means to pass on all my secret info to the world. Where I got my shoes (yes girls sometimes Target!), where I had the best pizza ever, where I got the greatest hostess gift, where I secretly ate the best dessert. What new series is premiering on HBO/SHOWTIME/FX/ that you MUST SEE, what movie is out that you can’t miss, what store opened that you MUST go to! Plus I love to dish. I have lots of suburbia drama and I love to put it out there…..Looking for the next fabulous find, greatest new book, hottest new fitness trend, or my suburbia drama – check in and subscribe!”
What blogs do you enjoy?
Thanks again Lena Marie of Type Z Moms for inviting me to participate in this Monday blog tour.
