I am a writer. A scrapbooker. I love to record. I love to preserve memories. Yet I can’t keep a baby book. With my son, I was so excited and splurged on Binth Baby Book . I was diligent about keeping a Belly Book and started filling out the family tree and what ever other pages I could in the baby book before Ian was born. But once I was absorbed in the daily grind of motherhood, I never picked up my pen and recorded anything.
What I did instead for my son’s first 2 years of life (and am doing now for my baby girl) is use a baby’s first year calendar & mark things I want to remember on the actual date, along with colorful stickers such as “first word,” “first tooth,” “first haircut” along with a photo for each month.
The calendar is undated, so it starts when Baby is born and ends the month of Baby’s first birthday. Each month has space to display a photograph and space to record Baby’s length and weight, as well as other anecdotes
It’s also concise and easy to flip through to locate particular information or milestones. I love comparing my son’s first year and various months with my daughter’s experiences now. I’m creating keepsakes which I’ll treasure forever with my babies’ first Year”13-month calendars.
