I have some definite thoughts and opinions on Former Bachelor star Chris Soules who is out on bail after he rear-ended a John Deere tractor, fatally injuring its driver, neighbor Kenneth E. Mosher, 66, but I am going to keep quiet as everyone has the right to a fair trial. A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. May 2. (Chris may want to speak to his one-time on camera girlfriend Andi Dorman, former Assistant District Attorney from Fulton County, Georgia)
Authorities said Soules had alcoholic beverages or containers with him, but they said they were still investigating whether he was impaired. He was convicted of drunken driving in 2005. He was charged with other alcohol violations and minor crimes during his 20s.
After his arraignment in court on Tuesday morning, Soules’ mother put up the $10,000 bail to spring her son from jail. In addition to bail, Chris had to surrender his passport and is now wearing an ankle monitor. This means the possibility of Chris showing up on Bachelor in Paradise this summer is slim to none.
I am extremely curious how this will shake out for ABC Network and if it will affect how the next season of Bachelor in Paradise is edited and shown. I suspect the amount of drinking and partying may be toned down a lot. People Magazine has written about “the show’s signature abundance of alcohol, sloppy make-out sessions and tear-soaked confessionals.” One has to wonder if ABC is promoting excessive drinking. I call on the producers to limit alcohol in the upcoming seasons.
Back in January, it was already announced that Bachelor in Paradise’s unsung hero and unofficial therapist, bartender Jorge Moreno won’t be returning for season 4.
Lace Morris often had a glass of wine in her hand, and has mentioned a few times both on The Bachelor and on BIP that she felt like it contributed to her erratic behavior.
Chad Johnson was kicked off after drunken, shockingly offensive behavior in BIP’s season 3 premiere.
Nick Viall’s runner-up Raven Gates recent officially confirmed that she’ll be going to Mexico. Corinne hinted to Life & Style exclusively that she will be heading to Paradise with an unlikely guest: her nanny! “There are talks about Raquel coming to Paradise,” the 25-year-old said. “Let’s hope I can take her with me!” I’d be curious what the chemistry is like between Corinne and Chad.
Producer Mike Fleiss has even teased an appearance by the one and only Donald Trump on his Twitter page: “#BachelorInParadise at Mar-a-Lago??? It could happen. Official announcement coming soon…” he wrote.
Anything can happen. Contestants should keep in mind that seeking fame can often backfire. I certainly wouldn’t be gossiping with fellow Bachelor fans about what happened to Chris Soules if he hadn’t become The Bachelor. If he wasn’t famous, it would have been yet another accident confined to Iowa instead of the cover story of weekly magazines.
Bachelor in Paradise is scheduled to premiere on August 8, 2017.
